Last Friday we had a meeting to close the activities of 2019 at my Kung Fu Family´s Kung Fu-House. Also on the same occasion, a Discipleship Ceremony. Both events were attended by my brother Kung Fu Rodrigo Moreira (photo).
At the opening of the event, I made a point of presenting Rodrigo, still in a simple way, for all that has contributed in my Family.
"I heard you talking about Musashi's book. One book you would like is the 'Chronicles of Arthur'." “It was with that phrase out of nowhere that our friendship began, outside the biology building of the old Gama Filho University. In the picture above, Rodrigo and I with other friends make fun of the first cell phone I had in my life, just before we traveled together.
In this same trip, I paired with Rodrigo in an activity in which we should find stratified drawings of plants in stones for geology discipline.
We were not finding anything, and I realized that those who had already found the teacher released to play soccer(or football). So I decided to take a flat stone, take another stone. And "draw" the stratified drawing. Rodrigo was worried, but I said, "This is Kung Fu!" The teacher looked at my face when I handed it over and said, "You're really a mother fu ***!" (She was a very old lady who spoke bad words. That was folkloric and everyone laughed.)
The years passed, and with them the responsibilities came. Fate wanted our friendship to follow until Rodrigo joined the same Kung Fu Family as me. Later, when I opened my own Kung Fu Family. Rodrigo was someone fundamental at various times. His open-hearted participation made him chosen by my first three disciples as "Gaai Siu Yan".
"Gaai Siu Yan" is what we call "Introducer". It is someone who introduces a person to a Kung Fu Family Leader, and takes responsibility for making this presentation.
(New Year 2014 at Patricia Carvalho's house: At first, Rodrigo's relationship with Si Fu was still "messed up" by me. As Rodrigo was a member of the MYVT Meier School wich I run, our contact was much more constant than his with Si Fu.)
With the years and hard work of Si Fu and Rodrigo, this scenario has changed. In the picture above, we see Rodrigo accompanying Si Fu with some of Moy Yat Ving Tsun martial Intelligence's top leaders.
Back to the last Friday, Rodrigo was once again chosen as "Gaai Siu Yan" from some of the disciples of that Ceremony. As it had been in other ceremonies that took place.
It would be very easy to make our relationship very shallow because we have so many common tastes. Somehow, maybe because Rodrigo is an extremely smart person or luckily, we got more than that.
Obrigado, meu irmão.
I decided to give to Rodrigo a novel in English of Homer's "The Odyssey". Rodrigo is one of the only people who has ever met did the entire seven-year course at "English Culture School of english", he loves to read, and on this adventure called "Life". Sometimes we get lucky to bump into someone like him.
Thank you my brother.
